Race Preview: SVRA

This weekend’s VIR SpeedTour will feature three full days of non-stop action with racing from Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, Prototype Sprint Series Association presented by Hankook (PSSA), International GT (IGT), Formula 4 United States Powered by Honda (F4 U.S.) and Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda (FR Americas). With over 28 hours of racing scheduled across the three days, over 250 cars will compete across the six series.

SVRA Returns to VIR
SVRA returns to one of the most historic tracks in America—VIRginia International Raceway (VIR). Touting eight decades of automotive history, the field will feature everything from Austin Healey Sprites and MGs battling it out in Group 1, to BMW M2 CSRs and Ginetta G56 GTAs fighting for position in Group 12a—as well as anything in between. With cars and drivers alike with rich racing history and accolades, there is certain to be something for every motorsports enthusiast.

OPTIMA’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car
In addition to the cars that will compete on VIR’s main course, even more cars showcase their performance capabilities through OPTIMA’s Search For The Ultimate Street Car. Incorporating five key components—road course, autocross, acceleration & braking competition, a road rally, and design & engineering—OPTIMA’s challenge puts competitors through a unique blend of tests of each vehicle’s performance, street-ability and engineering workmanship. Fans are invited to stop by VIR’s Patriot Course to see it in action. 

Hagerty Cars & Caffeine Car Show
Saturday’s Hagerty Cars and Caffeine Car Show will feature in excess of 150 classic, vintage, exotic and collector cars and vintage motorcycles of interest at one of the greatest race tracks in the country. For just $50, car show participants will receive two weekend tickets, and are invited to join in track touring around the 3.27-mile VIR circuit during the lunch break on both Saturday and Sunday.
